Everything Microsoft just announced at Gamescom on Xbox

Earlier today at the annual Gamescom trade fair in Cologne, Germany, Microsoft held a briefing that included some high-profile gaming announcements and news. Here are all the major bulletpoints from the press conference.

• "Rise of the Tomb Raider," the follow-up to Crystal Dynamics' stellar 2013 game, will launch as anXbox One exclusive in late 2015 -- though there does seem be language that leaves the door open for a release on other platforms down the road.
• Xbox One will be getting new features including DLNA, USB playback, boot-to-TV, an updated friends section among others according to Xbox Wire.
• Two new Xbox One bundles will hit later this year. An all-white console packed with "Sunset Overdrive" will go for $400 (without Kinect) on October 28, and a "Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare" skinned Xbox One with a 1TB hard drive and the game for $500 on November 3 (also without Kinect).
• Microsoft debuted an impressive gameplay demo of Remedy Entertainment's "Quantum Break" which is set to hit exclusively on Xbox One in 2015.
• The "Halo 5: Guardians" beta will begin on December 29.
• Moon Studios' charmingly dark platformer "Ori and the Blind Forest" will launch on Xbox One and PC this holiday season.
• The "Fable Legends" multiplayer beta will start on October 16.
• "Evolve," the recently delayed shooter from the team that brought us the "Left for Dead" series will offer an Xbox One beta in January 2015.
• Xbox One digital pre-order and pre-loading begins with Forza Horizon 2 and FIFA 15.

New Dell Venue 7 and 8 with Intel Merrifield Available in the US, Starting at $160 / €116

Earlier this month, the new Dell Venue 7 and 8 tablets were spotted making a stop at the FCC, so it was pretty clear to us they were going to be making it into retail soon enough.

Well, this day has come and now Dell has announced both slates have been made available in the US. The original Venue tablets were introduced back in 2013 and now Dell is taking an opportunity to refresh the lineup by bumping their speech sheet a little bit.

First off, the two tablets now enjoy the services of the Intel Merrifield platform. The 8-inch model delivers FHD resolution (1920 x 1200 pixels) while relying on a 2.1GHz Intel Atom CPU Z3480. The tablets are fitted with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD card).

The 7-incher doesn’t offer the same advanced resolution, limiting itself to bringing just 1280 x 800 res to the tablet. The CPU under the hood is an Intel Atom Z3460. Both slates run Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box, so you won’t have to wait for any soft updates if you purchase this bunch.

The 7-inch will take you back with $159 / €116, while the 8-incher will sell for $199 / €146. You can pick up both from the Dellwebsite.

Nokia Lumia 930 Goes on Sale Worldwide; Listed as 'Coming Soon' in India

Microsoft on Monday has announced the availability of its recently unveiled Lumia 930. Priced at $599 (approximately Rs. 35,800), the sales of Lumia 930 will begin this week in Asia, Europe and the Middle East. The company also said that "further rollout throughout the world (except the US) will continue over the coming weeks."

The Lumia 930 was first unveiled in April at Microsoft's Build 2014 conference along with the Lumia 630 and Lumia 635.

The smartphone is already listed on various online retailers (Buy Nokia Lumia 930 from Flipkart, Infibeam, HomeShop18) in India without price.

The Nokia Lumia 930 features single-SIM support and runs Windows Phone 8.1 out-of-the-box. It features a 5-inch full-HD (1080x1920 pixel) ClearBlack OLED display with a pixel density of 441ppi. The display boasts of a Gorilla Glass 3 screen, the 'Super Sensitive Touch' feature, and 'a near 180-degree viewing angle'. The Lumia 930 is powered by a 2.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 SoC coupled with 2GB of RAM, and 32GB of built-in storage.

It sports a 20-megapixel PureView camera with dual-LED flash, which has optical image stabilisation (OIS) and Carl Zeiss optics. A front-facing 1.2-megapixel wide-angle camera is onboard as well, apart from four directional microphones and integrated Dolby Surround Sound. The Nokia Lumia 930 comes in 32GB of built-in storage (additional 7GB free OneDrive cloud storage), but there is no expansion option for microSD card.

Various connectivity options on the Lumia 930 include Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi direct, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, Micro-USB, 3G and LTE. The Lumia 930 runs on a 2420mAh battery which is rated for up to 21.7 hours of 2G talk time and 17.9 hours of 3G talk time. Other than that the Lumia 930 smartphone also boasts of built-in wireless charging. It measures 137x71x9.8 mm and weighs 167 grams.

Featuring an aluminium frame with metallic accents, and a curved polycarbonate back, the smartphone comes in Bright Orange, Bright Green, Black and White colours. The Nokia Lumia 930 comes with OneDrive, MS Office, Nokia Camera, MixRadio and HERE Maps, as well as specific imaging apps, such as Nokia Camera, Nokia Storyteller, Nokia Creative Studio and Nokia Refocus, pre-installed.

This card performs well for a card that comes with no power connectors. While AAA games won't play at maximum configuration, a small sacrifice on the configuration can help with that. The cards are priced Rs.9900 for the GTX 750 and Rs.11,990 for the GTX 750 Ti. We see that this card could end up being popular in the Indian market owing to the performance that it delivers at this price point. 

The latest GPU architecture from NVIDIA came out today and they are calling it Maxwell. This doesn’t mean that they are going to launch the 800 series immediately. We are yet to see the GTX 790 and what we hear could be an improvement over the GTX TITAN . You can read more about it here. So Maxwell is coming into the picture with the launch of the GTX 750 and the GTX 750 Ti. The details of these two cards are mentioned below.

So the new card is and entry level GPU meant to replace the GTX 650 Ti but with a little difference that seems to be highlighted everywhere in the press release that NVIDIA came out with – that the performance/watt has gone up to a much higher level. For the previous generation most manufacturers only had the GTX 640 which could run off the motherboard’s power-supply. Anything greater would require a 6-pin PCIE power connector. There do exist GTX 650 SKUs by board partners that don’t require a power connector but the clock speed on those units have been scaled down to make do with the reduced power input.

The GTX 750 and the GTX 750 Ti are supposed to replace the GTX 650 Ti which occupied the mid-segment in the current line up till today.
